Nathan Sandell shares archival documentation about Professor Paul Creston (1906-1985), a prolific American composer during the 20th century.

 Professor Creston came to Central Washington State College in 1967 as Distinguished Visting Professor. He was appointed Professor of Music and Composer in Residence in 1968 and served in this role until his retirement in 1975. Creston’s compositions included orchestral works, concertos, chamber music, choral music, and those specific for string orchestra, piano, and symphonic band.

 

While at Central, Creston taught courses, gave public lectures and seminars, and there was a concert featuring his compositions performed by the CWSC Chamber Band, Orchestra, and Choir. He also served as guest conductor.
